Since March 1st, 2007, Chinese RoHS standards have been in effect. The prohibition of substances in electronics production is largely comparable with European RoHS regulations; however, some points are stricter than the European Union 2002/95/EG guidelines.
In contrast to the EU, China does not allow self-declaration by the final equipment manufacturer, but as a rule asks for an inspection in an accredited Chinese laboratory.
Conformance to Chinese RoHS must be proven there. This also applies to Chinese RoHS for medical products and inspection instruments. Furthermore, product labeling obligations have been in place since March 1st, 2007.
A significant difference to EU directives is that the cornerstone of Chinese RoHS has been supported by increased descriptive and detailed technical standards since introduction of the Chinese legislation. Three of these eight technical standards are available today! The other standards are available as drafts.
